If you have been in Italy for any amount of time, you realize that transportation strikes are something that you must deal with on occasion.

There is a transportation strike scheduled for November 16th through November 17th, 2011 - please be aware of this as it may impact your travel plans.  Bear in mind that not all strike announcements ever materialize.

Planes: All Day Nov 17th
Ferries: All Day Nov 17th
Trains:  From 9PM Nov 16th to 9PM Nov 17th
Ships: From 8AM Nov 17th to 8AM Nov 18th

This can be a great hassles to the riding public. Personally, this is a big negative for Italy's standing as an internationally known country. We need more tourists to come in and nobody would love to learn that transportation are not available at those dates.

As an Italian, I really find these strikes to be cumbersome to our national economy and creating a black-eye with our tourism drive.

Just last month, I was shocked to find no trens doing their routes only to realize that they were on strikes.

We should find better alternatives with waging a strike!

Strikes is one of the many things I hate in Italy. There was one time I got stranded in an airport because I was not really aware of the announced plane strike.

Oh well, this is Italy. But other than this, nothing can ever captivate more than Italy. I love Italians and their charms...
