Suvereto - a hillside medieval village situated near the Ligurian Sea in the Livorno Region

Not sure how the festival will be this year, since this area has been devastated by recent flooding.

Suvereto festival offers exhibitions, culture, folklore events and wild boar recipe tasting.

The public butchering and preparation of the meat is typically an Etruscan tradition.  A big grill is set up in the middle of the village to cook the tasty meat, available for massive consumption.

Wild boar is a staple of the local cooking especially in the most traditional dishes. Besides wild boar, you'll find other products from the area including olive oil, wine and honey. The festival includes people in medieval costume and medieval competitions - a great time even if you do not like boar.
