The Rome Marathon
When: March 18, 2012
Only in Rome can you have a chance to run through the historic streets running through years of ruins, art, history etc.
The race takes place on Mar 18 (third Sunday), but the days leading up to the race are filled with shows, concerts etc. in Marathon village.
Cost: up to €70,00 – depending on when you register
Start: March 18th – 9am
Via dei Fori Imperiali (Colosseo)
Maximum time Maximum time - 7:30 hours.
What will you see? The Colosseum and the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia and the Altar of the Fatherland, the Theater (Teatro) of Marcellus, the Mouth of Truth, the Circus Maximum, St. Paul's Gate and the Pyramid of Cestius, the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. Peter's Square, the Vatican Walls, The "Foro Italico" and the Olympic Stadium. And Piazza Navona, Via del Corso, the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo and its twin churches, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain.
"La Stracittadina", the non-competitive 4k. More than a race, it is a leisurely walk to which anyone can participate. The cost of registration amounts to € 7,00; athletes can register at the Marathon Village or at dedicated registration points. This starts immediately after the marathon.
Getting there (to Marathon Village) From Termini Central Railway Station or Tiburtina Railway Station take subway line B to “Laurentina” and get off at stop “Eur Fermi”.
