Ferragosto, a major Italian holiday, which takes place on August 15th, is a very festive occasion celebrating the feast of the Assumption. Many towns will have a fireworks display. Virtually everything will be closed that day. And many times a transportation strike will sometimes occur around this day, so please plan accordingly.
