Cremona, Italy, is considered the torrone (nougat) capital of the world.

[It's the candy that gets stuck in your teeth]

The town celebrates a festival every year honoring the desert which originated in
this town. It dates back to 1441 when the Visconti family called for a new desert
for their wedding. The chefs came up with torrone. During the festival, usually the fourth weekend in October, the historic wedding is re-enacted and there's plenty of torrone.
